Pluto in Capricorn – Undermining the Establishment

You may not be into Astrology. But, even so, you can’t possibly have failed to notice that there’s Stuff Going On, right now. An awful lot of Stuff. Definitely with capital letters!

People everywhere are waking up to the reality that fixing the mess the world’s in is not a jobthey can leave to The Government. In fact – shock, horror – it turns out to be the case, that the Government (whichever government) is probably a biggish part of making the mess in the first place. And there’s funny stuff happening with money. Apart from the banks all falling to pieces. People are believing in money less than they did. It’s becoming more and more obvious that it’s something we’ve made up. It’s not somehow real. Yes, you still need it to buy stuff from the supermarket, but there’s this sense that it means less than it did. People are also becoming aware that some bits of the legal system are unfair, that the education systemisn’t really fit for purpose, the welfare system doesn’t seem to work properly, and that thereseem to be a load of people whose “healthcare” is not only not really helping them, butmay even be making them sicker.

That’s where the astrology comes in. It’s all the fault of Pluto in Capricorn. Capricorn is the sign of law and order, solid foundations, established ways of doing things, tradition, andstructure. Pluto is the God of the Underworld, the one who destroys everything that’s had its day. He brings to the surface stuff that’s been hidden and exposes all that is rotten, so it canbe healed – or destroyed and rebuilt. And Pluto is travelling through Capricorn right now.

To put this in context, Pluto takes 248 years to travel through all the signs of the zodiac. So the last time it was travelling through Capricorn was 1760-1778 – a period that coincided with the American war of Independence, the lead-up to the French revolution, a revolt among the slaves in Jamaica that took two years to stamp out, and the beginning of the Industrial revolution.

Pluto moved into Capricorn in 2008, just weeks before the banks started collapsing. Sincethen, he’s been doing his Plutonic job with a vengeance! And it’s not slowing down.Traditions and structures are collapsing everywhere, and people are beginning to see thatthe way things have “always been” may not be the only way, or the best way.

The good news is that by 2026, Pluto will move into Aquarius. As Aquarius is the sign of brotherhood/sisterhood, and also the sign of technology, we could see new ways of generating energy and new technologies leading to a much fairer society. We could see a much more heart-centred and spirit-centred way of life become more of the norm. The upheavals of the last couple of decades could lead to very positive revolutionary change. Bring it on!
